Save links to Markist from anywhere — your desktop browser, an Android phone, or an iPhone. Pick the section that matches your device.

Desktop

Chrome & Brave extension

The Markistextension adds a one-click bookmark button to your toolbar. It saves the page you’re viewing and, if you’re signed out, takes you through sign-in first and then saves it automatically.

While the extension is pending review on the Chrome Web Store, you can install it manually (it works in both Chrome and Brave):

  1. Download the extension folder from our GitHub repository (the extensions/chrome directory).
  2. Open chrome://extensions (or brave://extensions) in your browser.
  3. Turn on Developer mode using the toggle in the top-right corner.
  4. Click Load unpacked and select the extensions/chrome folder.
  5. Pin the Markisticon to your toolbar so it’s always one click away.

To save a bookmark: open any page, click the Markist toolbar icon, and confirm. By default the bookmark is added to Read later— uncheck it in the popup if you don’t want it there.

Once the extension is published, this page will link straight to the Chrome Web Store for a one-click install.

Android

Save links on Android

On Android, Markist installs as an app from your browser and then shows up in the native share sheet, so you can save links from Chrome, YouTube, X, or any other app.

Step 1 — Install the app

  1. Open Chrome and visit markist.xyz.
  2. Tap the menu (⋮) and choose Add to Home screen (or Install app).
  3. Tap Install to confirm. Markist now lives on your home screen like any other app.

Step 2 — Save a link from any app

  1. Find a link in Chrome, YouTube, X, or anywhere else.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Choose Markist from the share sheet.
  4. The bookmark is saved and you’re returned to the app you came from — no waiting.

iPhone & iPad

Save links on iPhone & iPad

Markistinstalls to your home screen from Safari. iOS doesn’t let web apps register in the share sheet directly, so saving from other apps uses a quick Shortcut (recommended) or a Safari bookmarklet.

Step 1 — Install the app

  1. Open Safari and visit markist.xyz.
  2. Tap the Share icon, then Add to Home Screen.
  3. Tap Add. Markist now opens full-screen from your home screen.

Step 2 — Save links with a Shortcut

  1. Open the Shortcuts app and create a new shortcut.
  2. Add the Receive URLs from Share Sheet action, then an Open URLs action.
  3. In the URL field, enter https://markist.xyz/api/bookmarks/add?url= followed by the Shortcut Input (URLs) variable.
  4. Open the shortcut settings (the (i) icon), enable Show in Share Sheet, and allow URLs.
  5. Name it Save to Markist. Now tap Share → Save to Markist in any app.

Alternative — Safari bookmarklet

  1. Bookmark any page in Safari, then edit that bookmark.
  2. Replace its address with this snippet:javascript:(function(){window.location.href='https://markist.xyz/api/bookmarks/add?url='+encodeURIComponent(window.location.href);})();
  3. Rename it Save to Markist and tap it from your bookmarks while viewing any page.
